Getting the product of two values such as price and quantity sold is a common occurrence for users of Excel. Most people use a basic formula such as A2*B2 to get the product. However, what happens when we have several hundred rows and a total is needed. One way to get this done quickly is to use the sumproduct function. This function is actually two in one, product multiples while sum adds up the result.

1. Here we have the price and the quantity (or units purchased) for a typical retail store

2. The sumproduct multiplies values across each array or range.

a. Enter the range pertaining to prices in the first section

b. Enter the range pertaining to quantity sold as the second section

c. The result is total revenue for retail items sold.

This function can save hours when implemented in the right situation.
