Change Formulas to Numbers

Excel is known for formulas, functions and fancy calculations. However, in many instances these formulas can’t or shouldn’t be shared. Reasons may vary from formulas dependent on sensitive data to data saved in a location inaccessible by some users. One technique around this is to change formulas to a number also known as “hardcoding” the formula. Below is a quick technique to do this.

1. Select the cell that has the formula you would like to change (i.e. =H2*I2)

2. Click on the home ribbon

3. Click the copy button

4. Click on the down arrow under Paste

5. Click on Paste Special

6. Select the values option

7. Click on Ok

8. The formula in cell J2 has been change to just a number
